Professionally, Jan is known for her expertise in research and evaluation. She embodies all of the traits that a university community associates with excellence ... her professional expertise, her dedication to quality, and her caring and concern for people. Her work as associate Director of the Research Institute for Studies in Education was exemplary. She has worked tirelessly with faculty and staff in the College of Education to generate contracts and grants to support research efforts. In recognition of her outstanding efforts to the university community, this brick is being given to Jan as a going away present by her friends and colleagues in the Research Institute and the College of Education at Iowa State. Jan is an intelligent, witty person who genuinely cares about people. She has been an outstanding role model for all of us. We have the highest respect and admiration for Jan and all she represents.
