The granite paver placed here honors four women in our family: Janiece Larsen Paulson, Helen Pedersen Larsen, Doris Wearmouth Paulson, and Laura Larsen Pedersen Madsen. Their achievements are not in amassing great wealth or becoming famously known, nor for being saints or martyrs. Rather they are simply recognized for the love, strength, and devotion they've given to their families and community. Their examples continue to be an inspiration for us all.

Ms. Doris Fay Wearmouth Paulson (September 2, 1904 - ) is my grandmother, and a great grandmother she is. Doris was born near Mitchellville, Iowa, and was raised with her brothers and sisters in Humboldt, Iowa. While in high school in Humboldt, Doris excelled in many activities including art and the school yearbook. Today, Grandma Doris astonishes us still with her creative writing skills. Few have written more beautifully than she.

In 1925, Doris married her high school sweetheart, Edwin Paulson. Together, they raised three sons: Jack, Jerry, and Jon. Doris kept busy in church activities and raising her family but was always there when Grandpa needed her help in the restaurant and meat locker businesses they operated in Rutland, Iowa. Today Doris is still here when we need her and her "lots of love" is shared and returned by many.
