The children of Ethel Sandburg would like to pay tribute to her for being a loving mother and inspiring role model. Ethel Ross was born September 10, 1916, to John and Myrtle Rossow Ross on the Ross farm southwest of Lohrville. She passed away May 28, 1976.

Ethel attended Lohrville Community School and graduated in 1933. She went to Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa for one year to further her musical abilities.

On March 3, 1937 she married Keith Sandburg. To this marriage three children were born: Russell, Kent, and Elizabeth. Most of her married life was spent on the Sandburg Century Farm southeast of Lohrville.

Ethel was a generous person. She always seemed to make time to help others. She was an avid gardener, and as her garden grew, so did her generosity. Ethel was a devoted servant to her friends and to her Lord. She was a faithful wife, a compassionate mother, and was an inspiration to many.

She was a member of the Lake City Woodlawn Christian Church active worker in the Lohrville Christian Church, and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was the church organist for more than 20 years. She was also an active member of the Entre Nous Music Club of Lake City.
