She was my grandmother and I felt that she was one of many unsung heroines. She was widowed with two children 3 and 1 years old. She taught in small country schools living on the family farm. Afterwards, she ran a roominghouse so both children could have a college education. Both became college professors. Her son earned a PhD and became a recognized and influential figure in Agriculture nationally and internationally.
