Fran DeSimone Becque considers herself an accidental Pi Phi. She signed up for recruitment at Syracuse University in the fall of 1975 solely to see the insides of the chapter houses. Her plan was to drop out after house tours. She ended up as a member of the NY Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi and she came to love the history of her fraternity.

As an alumna, Fran has served as a chapter advisor, province officer and as a Collegiate Director. In 2016, she was serving as Pi Beta Phi's Historian and Archivist.

Fran earned a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her dissertation, "Coeducation and the History of Women's Fraternities," documented the growth of the seven founding members of the National Panhellenic Conference. Her blog at www.fraternityhistory.com features items relating to the history of Greek-letter organizations.
