Jeanne graduated from Iowa State in 1962, majoring in English and Speech. She attended graduate school at the University of Arizona and taught English at Waukon, Iowa until her marriage to Frederick H. Lutze in 1961. Jeanne and Fred have lived in Blacksburg Virginia since 1966, where Fred is a professor of aerospace engineering at Virginia Tech. Fred received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1959 and his MS and PhD degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Arizona in 1964 and 1967. Jeanne has been a dedicated and energetic volunteer in Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council for over twenty years. She was employed as Director of Training and Adult Development from 1978-1984. She has received the Thanks Badge, Girl Scouting's highest award for adult members. Jeanne's friends and colleagues all know of her strong ties to Iowa and to Iowa State. She often shares memories and experiences that prove she's "Iowa proud!"
