Jolynne Marie Carlson was born on July 24, 1980, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Madrid High School in 1998, and shortly after she put a hold on her education to raise her family. After having her son Brandon McKinley in 1999, she realized that she wanted nothing more in life than to be a mother. She then had Olivia Paige in 2003 and Megan Joann in 2007. She continued her education off and on over ten years through Des Moines Area Community College. In 2011, she made the decision to pursue her passion for helping and serving people through Fitness and Wellness Coaching. She graduated in 2014 with her degree, Fitness Management, AS, from DMACC.

Jolynne currently resides in Madrid, Iowa, where she was raised. She is the owner and operator of BOM Fitness and Wellness Coaching, located at 201 W 2nd St. in Madrid. As a single mother, she is continuing to raise her children and balance owning her business while still striving and succeeding to be an active part of the Madrid community and continuing to expand on her knowledge and education in her field of fitness.

I have only known Jolynne for about 2.5 years. We met to get a bite to eat and to get to know each other a little better before she allowed her son, Brandon, to go to prom with me back in 2015. Little did I know that one day she would potentially be my mother-in-law or my boss. The years I have been around her have been filled with nothing but determination and joy. Like any strong woman, she has her moments where she needs someone to lean on but luckily she surrounds herself with amazing men and women that support her at all times.

Today, I am honoring this amazing woman for not only raising the love of my life to be the man he is today, but for supporting me in ways that no one has. She has pushed me to be a better person, a better woman, and I can’t thank her enough for the light that she has brought to my life. She is a constant inspiration to me and many, many others because she is a woman of action. When life presents her a problem, she relentlessly searches for a solution and when that solution is found she acts. From her personal life to her profession, she charges in head on to do what she can to give back and help anyone and everyone she can.

She may not have graduated or attended Iowa State University, but there is not a woman I know who deserves this honor more. Thank you, Mom, for everything you do for me and everyone.

We Love You! Happy Mother’s Day. ’17,

Your Kiddos
