Pesek Katherine E. is my sister Kitty, the youngest of three children, born to Elizabeth (Kallus) Pesek and John T. Pesek on March 5, 1927 at Jourdanton, Texas. An only granddaughter, niece and sister she has always been special and became a point of strength to whom the extended family and friends often turned for guidance and help. She was particularly good to our parents and aunt especially in times of great need. Graduating from Jourdanton High School there in 1944 she became a Registered Nurse completing work at Santa Rosa Division of Nursing of Incarnate Word College in 1948.

She became a medical records technician in 1976 and qualified as an accountant after study at the University of Texas, San Antonio from 1981 to 1983. Beginning as a staff nurse and then the administrator at Schotts Memorial Hospital in Poteet in 1955 she became Hospital Administrator at Pleasanton Hospital and Clinic adding the position of Operating Room Supervisor--positions held until 1975. The next three years Kitty was the Office Manager for J.M. Faggard M.D. in Pleasanton served as Nurse Consultant for Retama Manor for Geriatrics Inc. Greeley Colorado and as Medical Records Technician for Mercy Hospital in Jourdanton.

She became the Assistant Administrator at Mercy Hospital in 1978 and continued in that capacity at Tri-City Community Hospital (formerly Mercy) until 1987 when she became Comptroller for a year and then the Director of Electronic Data Processing and Staff Accountant until retirement in 1992. Katherine has been active in her profession and church and is found in Who's Who of American Women and in Personalities of the South.

She has been a member of the American Nurses Association the Texas Nurses Association the American Hospital Association and the Texas Hospital Association and is Secretary-treasurer of the Atascosa County Hospital Association Board of Directors. A member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church she is a member of the San Antonio Archdiocese Forum on the Catechumanate the Pleasantan Deanery Pastoral Council and the Steering Committee of ACCEPT.

Kitty has a keen and profound sense of professionalism, humanitarianism and citizenship and a dedication and determination that have made her excel in her vocation and avocations. Hers continues to be a pivotal role in the family.
