Marian Kruse

Marian Kruse was born January 30, 1906 at Maquoketa, Iowa to John and Louise (Nelson) Grant. She completed high school at Maquoketa and was a graduate of Coe College. She taught in country schools in Jones and Jackson counties and in 1945 began teaching kindergarten at Stanwood. She transferred to Olin in 1949 where she taught kindergarten and music until her retirement in 1971.

On June 21, 1931 she married Gerald Kruse at Nashua. The couple first lived at Hale. In 1945 they moved to Stanwood and in 1949 to Olin. In 1957 they moved to a farm near Hale where she lived until moving to Anamosa in 1979. In 1988 she entered the Madrid Home at Madrid where she died on February 23, 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald in 1971; four sisters and one brother. Her surviving family includes two sons Steven Kruse of Huxley and Sidney Kruse of Anamosa; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
