Penelope L. Peterson

Dr. Penelope L. Peterson was among the first women undergraduates in psychology at Iowa State and became one of the world's leading educational psychologists. After graduating with Honors in 1971 she received her Ph.D. from Stanford in 1976. She has been the Sears-Bascom Professor at the University of Wisconsin and is currently A University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University where she is Co-Director of the Educational Policy and Practices Study. She has published extensively in the areas of individual differences learning and instruction and served six years as editor of the leading journal in the field the Review of Educational Research. She is past president of Division C: Learning and Instruction of the American Educational Research Association and is currently president-elect of the Association.

She is a Fellow of the American Psychological association and the American Psychological Society.
