Pollie, my wife and companion for 51 years, is intelligent, energetic, attractive, an excellent cook, a good wife and mother, and likes to laugh. Born on a farm in Texas, she developed family values, a love for learning, and the value of hard work. A teacher since age 19 she believed one could make a difference in a student's life.

Some of her accomplishments: B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Home Economics, produced a healthy son while father was in the army in the European Theater; later had two beautiful daughters; taught home economics in public schools in five states; kindergarten in two states; supervised many many student teachers from Iowa State University; worked as research associate at Iowa State; planned a home economics department in Ohio; drew plans for remodeling the home economics department at Central Junior High Ames; taught short courses and consumer education at Iowa State; taught tailoring at night school for adults; won recipe contest at Country Woman a national magazine catering to rural and farm women.

Her junior high students in Ames won Grand Slam in State "Make It With Wool Contest"; supervised a canning center in Texas and served on Boards of Directors of Head Start Red Cross and Visiting Nurses in Iowa. After retirement she volunteered at Meeker Elementary School and Mary Greeley Hospitality Shop in Ames. She gave freely of her time and energy to help others.
