Lieutenant Commander Tanya T. Tilton graduated from Iowa State in 1983 with a Bachelor of Business Arts Degree specializing in marketing, and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy Reserve. Lieutenant Commander Tilton's first assignment was as a Communications Watch Officer and Administration Officer at the Naval Communications Station, Puerto Rico. Next she was assigned to the office of the Chief of Naval Operations, serving as a Navy Training Plans Analyst, Executive Assistant and Federal Legislative Assistant from 1984 to 1987. She served as the Executive Officer of the Naval Reserve Readiness Command in Memphis, Tennessee for two years, followed by four years at the Naval Reserve Readiness Command Region Nineteen, where she was the Staff Readiness Automated Information Systems and Administrative officer. Lieutenant Commander Tilton commanded the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center, San Bruno, California from June 1993 to September 1994 and is currently assigned to Balboa Naval Medical Center, San Diego, California as the Reserve Liaison Officer. Lieutenant Commander Tilton has been awarded three Navy Commendation Medals and the Navy Achievement Medal for her outstanding professional performance. 7/1/96
