Born in Ft. Madison Ruth graduated in June 1948 with a BS in Gen. Engineering from Iowa State. She worked for G.E. as test engineer and also worked for the Iowa Highway Commission and Des Moines Steel. Ruth married Leon Corkery and is the mother of five sons. She taught Jr. High math in the Moline Public Schools for 10 years and completed her career as an Industrial Engineer for the John Deere Foundry in Moline, IL.
