Roseva Eitel Albertson is honored in the Plaza of Heroines by her five children. She is an inspiration to all who know her and always has been. Her many achievements and accomplishments continue to amaze her children, especially now that her children have children of their own.

The short biography below briefly describes a woman who has overcome adversity and tragedy through her strength of character and the unwavering pursuit of her goals. Those goals have largely been governed by her high regard for the value of education. She and her children are the recipients of 9 higher education degrees, and her oldest grandchild has recently enrolled at Iowa State University. Roseva has instilled the value of higher education, which now passes on to the third generation.

This short biography chronicles a life with its highs and lows. But the music of her life can be heard by reading between these lines and imagining all which has been accomplished. Considering the challenges and sacrifices required by those accomplishments, the absolute remarkability of her life can be heard. And yes, it is a story with mostly happy moments and amazing achievements.

Born November 1, 1932 to Iva Queen Martin Eitel and Sherman John Eitel at home near Kirksville, Missouri, the sixth of seven children. Married Hubert Albertson in 1950 and together they had five children: Kristin, Sandra, Gary, Karen, and Teresa. Roseva was widowed in 1967. Graduated from Iowa State University in 1969 with a B.A. in Home Economics and in 1970 with an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling. Certification in Secondary Administration in 1976 from ISU also. Teaching career from 1969 to 1994 in the Ames Community School System in Home Economics. Traveled in 1980 around the world with Phi Delta Kappa. Long time member of PEO and United Methodist Church. Roseva enjoys traveling, sports events, reading, and gardening. 1/9/95
