P. Buckley Moss has earned a place in history as one of the most popular artists of all time. Through her peaceful artistry we see life as it should be. We are drawn to the traditional symbols which create an emotional atmosphere of nostalgic memories. We see morality and order, purity, inner beauty, warmth, joy, security, serenity, hope, and renewal. We feel the beauty of the winter, the warmth of home, the pleasure of music, the joy of a promenade, the kindness of friendship, tranquility, tenderness, serenity, sweetness--all at once.
Through her philanthropic contribution to the welfare of children we see a model to emulate. P. Buckley Moss has dyslexia, a learning disability. Her life story is one of a person who overcame her problems and now helps others to overcome theirs. She shares her story with children everywhere and serves as a role model and represents hope for countless children and adults who suffer the same affliction. Pat has used her success to benefit the young of our world, both by using her art to raise money for those charities which aid in their health and by bringing attention to their needs. LDA, Learning Disabilities Association of America, has been a major benefactor.
We honor Pat for her significant contribution to make our world a better place. The art of P. Buckley Moss serves as a catalyst for bringing people together who share certain beliefs and aspirations. Pat is admired as a person as well as for her talent. She touches the lives of many with her charming manner, her graciousness and warmth. This is part of her magic and is why there are so many thousands of people who have traveled far to meet her and who are proud to call her their friend. The love of Pat, the feelings of fellowship, the confirmation of values received through her art, enriches many lives personally and enables them to help humankind in innumerable ways. The "Moss Spirit" is a partnership between P. Buckley Moss and the thousands of members of the P. Buckley Moss Society and, because of it, the lives of many children are changed. We honor her life and example.
The P. Buckley Moss Society is an independent organization formed by Moss collectors in 1987 and currently numbers some 52 chapters and 18,000 members throughout the world. Its purposes are to foster the awareness and understanding of Pat's work and to assist her in her charitable endeavors.
