Sarah's life, no matter which turn it took, was always an inspiration for love, for service, and for perseverance. In spite of having been discriminated against as a woman early in her career, she worked hard, held her head high, and encouraged others to persist in their goals of overcoming prejudice.
It was my good fortune at thirteen years of age to become her student, and then at twenty one, her colleague, and finally a life-long friend.
