Miss Olive Settles taught World Textiles and was an authority (in Who's Who) on Guatemalan textiles and costumes.

Of my three years at ISU so long ago, Miss Settles is the one instructor who stands out in my memory. As a single woman she was "liberated" enough (a bit ahead of those who came later) to travel to Guatemala and other locations to gain information on native textiles to pass on to her students. She is also the only instructor to take a personal interest in me as an individual.
