MARIE CATHERINE BROWN was born on December 26, 1913 in Boone, Iowa to Cecil and Ida Headley. She was married on September 2, 1934 in Maryville, MO. to Alexander Lawrence Brown who preceded her in death in 1985. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. The family were residents of Shenandoah from 1943 to 1959 where she worked at Tidy House Products. Mrs. Brown then moved to Des Moines and was employed as a switchboard operator at the Valley Bank for 20 years retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Brown died Friday, March 18, 1994 of cancer at the Hospice Kavanagh House. She was 80 years old. Services were March 22 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale, Ia. with burial along with Alexander in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Boone. She is survived by two sons, Richard Lawrence Brown of Ames and Russell Wayne Brown of Paso Robles, California; a daughter, Kathleen Purscell of Des Moines, Ia.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maxine Damiani of Des Moines and Ruth Myers of Winthrop.
