Buelah Evelyn (Stewart) Temple was born August 7, 1923, the second daughter of six children born to Mary (Cannon) and Cloyce Steward. She grew up on a farm near Washington, Iowa, graduated from Iowa State University in 1945 with a BS degree in Home Economics with a Child Development major.
On March 24, 1945 she married Sikke Temple. After graduation she worked at the Anne Whittenmeyer Home, until her husband was discharged from the Service.
Mrs. Temple was a farmer and homemaker near Keota, Iowa, dedicated to her family. She raised and nurtured eleven children - 6 farmers (3 with a BS in Animal Science), 2 physicians (M.D.), 1 nurse (BS in Nursing), 1 systems analyst (MBA), and 1 electronics specialist (BS in Electronics and BS in Home Economics).
She was voted Washington County Mother of the Year in 1985. She received the Volunteer Award in 1993 for over 25 years of volunteer service with Head Start and HACAP. She is a tireless worker and elder in the United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Temple likes gardening, flowers, 2 year olds, sewing, knitting, quilting, playing in the handbell choir, walking, volunteering, family dinners, children and grandchildren. A real heroine - warm and loving - dedicated to her family and community.
