Elizabeth Arnold Windsor

Elizabeth Arnold Windsor was born June 20, 1909, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Phineas Lawrence and Margaret Fursman (Boynton) Windsor. She earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1931, a bachelor's degree in library science in 1932 and a master's degree in library science in 1938, all at the University of Illinois. She worked as a librarian until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of Collegiate Methodist Church in Ames; PEO, where she served as president secretary and vice president in chapter Kappa Rho; the Association of American University Women in Ames, where she served as secretary and president and was an area representative for cultural interests and chair of music and arts study groups. AAUW honored her by establishing in 1974 an Elizabeth Arnold Windsor Fellowship. She was also a member of American Library Association, where she was a council member and board member; Iowa Library Association Director from 1966 to 1967; the Association of College Research Libraries, where she served as secretary of the agriculture and biology division: Phi Beta Kappa; Delta Gamma Kappa; Beta Phi Mu; and Phi Kappa Phi, where she served as a term president of the Iowa State University Chapter and was selected as Centennial Medalist by the ISU Chapter in April of 1997. She was listed in Who's Who in American Women in 1974-75 and in the Biographical Dictionaries of Librarians in the United States and Canada in 1970. 2/24/2003
