Ellen Diedrichsen joined Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1996, served in the roles of Senior Actuary, Budget Director and Vice President of Underwriting and Financial Planning until her retirement in 2020. Ellen has more than 25 years of experience in the health insurance industry, and prior to joining Wellmark, had experience at American Family Insurance in Madison, Wisconsin, and Farmland Insurance in Des Moines, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1981 and earned her FSA (Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries) in 1996.
Ellen and her husband, Steve, who is also an ISU graduate, established the Diedrichsen Scholarship for Mathematics in 2017 to be awarded to mathematics students with an emphasis in actuarial science. They currently live in Des Moines.
