Ann Jennings

Ann Woodard Jennings was born Ann Louise Woodard on March 22, 1935 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Frances and Harold Woodard. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Textiles and Clothing from Iowa State University in 1956. While in college she held many elected positions at both Westgate and Welch dormitories and on the Memorial Union Student Board and Board of Directors. She was also President of the Home Economics Association and was a member of Mortar Board. After graduation she married Albert Laurence Jennings on June 10, 1956.

They have four children: John Douglas, born January 16, 1957; Bob Lee, born May 19, 1959; Julie Jane, born October 30, 1962; and Heidi Jo, born January 13, 1968.

Ann is probably best know for being a philanthropist. Whether it is her time knowledge or resources Ann is a very giving person. She has donated her time to many organizations including serving as the president's of the Moore Elementary Merdith Junior High and the Hoover High School’s PTA. She was the president of the ISU chapter of HEAA and the IHEA president as well. She served as the president of the ISU Memorial Union and currently is on the ISU Foundation Board of Governors. Ann volunteers her time to judge the Iowa State Fair help start the Reiman Gardens and involves herself in various activities at the Living History Farms in Des Moines. Ann has received many honors. Two include the ISU Memorial Union Service Medallion and the Alumni Recognition Medal in 1988 and 1982 respectively. She has many commitments in life but none seem as important to Ann as that commitment to her family.

She has always put her family first helping them to learn and have accomplishments of their own. Ann enjoys needle arts gardening scuba diving skiing tennis and traveling. Ann and Al both believe strongly in political involvement at all levels of government. They reside in their home they built 38 years ago in Des Moines Iowa.
