Lisa Freese Cotter was born and raised in Chickasaw County, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Industrial Engineering. After joining the workforce at Hewlett-Packard, she attended Stanford University to get her masters degree also in Industrial Engineering. She then worked at Best Buy for over 18 years completing her time there as a Senior Director. She then founded a supply chain consultancy and in 2024 returned to Iowa State as a Professor of Practice at the Ivy College of Business's Supply Chain Department, where she currently teaches. She is the dearly loved mother of Robert, Lillian, and Patrick and, as of July 2024, a grandmother.
