Ann Elizabeth Fox Davenport
Ann E Fox Davenport is being honored by her family on the occasion of her graduation from the University of Minnesota on April 29, 2011. Studying sustainable landscape desgin and maintenance at the University of Minneosta, Ann graduated with a Master of Agriculture in Horticulture. Ann received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in 1998, majoring in political science and international studies, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
After leaving ISU, Ann worked in the field of women's health, managing health centers for Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa, and Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North, and South Dakota. Ann's commitment to women's health and reproductive rights continues to change as her career changed directions.
When she and Brian, her husband, purchased their home in Minneapolis, Ann discovered that she had inherited a green thumb! Her love of horticulture became apparent as more and more turf space was converted to garden. As a child, Ann was fortunate to be able to enjoy spending time with her grandfather, John Morhauser, as he tended his hybrid tea roses, pruned his stand of walnut trees, and raised wonderful vegetables and flowers. Growing up in Prairie City, Iowa gave Ann a head start on developing an appreciation for native plants and their ecosystems. Her journey into the "Green" industry began with one night class in horticulture at a community college in the Twin Cities in 2005. She was hooked and shortly thereafter she transferred to the University of Minnesota where she continued to study, while employed, until she completed her graduate degree coursework in December 2010. Currently, Ann works as a designer and lead horticulturist for Field Outdoor Spaces in Minneapolis.
Ann and Brian are avid runners and athletes. In their spare time they can be found on the trails in the Twin Cities with their friends from the Minnesota R.E.D. Running Club. Ann competes in road races varying in distance from 5k's to marathons, as well as short and long course triathlons.
It is with great love and pride that we honor Ann on this special day. Her strength, determination, intelligence, and delightful sense of humor continue to amaze us. Ann is a strong woman who carries on the traditions set by her ancestors, to complete any task that she undertakes and to do it to the best of her ability.
