Honoring her contributions to both the League of Women Voters and her community. Her active engagement and input as a member of the League Board was invaluable and in her role as Publicity Chair she took the League to new possibilities and added to its impact within the community. Her time, knowledge, and energy truly benefited the League. Barbara volunteered for many years within the community, participating with energy, passion, and empathy in the causes she felt benefited the citizens of Ames and the larger community of the world. Barbara was a leader in the Ames Better Angels Alliance and was involved in the Story County Aids Coalition Care Team. She worked with ACCESS as a Crisis Intervention Volunteer, and her long career as a physical therapist focused on the needs of women. Barbara’s deep empathy and concern for her fellow humans make her worthy of her place in the Plaza of Heroines. April 2023
