Bernadine (Bennie) E. Kleemeier was born in 1917. She has been a resident of Rockwell City, Iowa, her entire life except from 1976 to 1982, when she was the housemother for the Delta Delta Delta house at Iowa State. Bennie spent her early life as a homemaker, raising four children with her husband, Eddie. She was always active in church work. Bennie was widowed in 1965. She spent the following years working as a dental assistant in Rockwell City until her children were grown. One son was an ISU grad in 1970 and is forever grateful for her support during his university years. In 1976, Bennie went off to ISU herself and became a very active and popular housemother. She spent six years on the job and during this time became a very avid fan of ISU, especially through sports activities. This tradition continues today. Bennie continues to attend sporting events in Ames and she contributes to various fund-raising events at the university. Several of her grandchildren currently attend Iowa State. Bennie has accomplished many things in her life, mostly through sheer determination and perseverance. Her family was always her first priority and we all honor her.
