Blanche Rose Formanek was born in Britt, Iowa in 1937. She graduated from Garner High School in 1955. She married William F. Chizek on June 19, 1956. Her husband was born in Mason City, Iowa in 1932. They were engaged in farming for 39 years near Britt Iowa. Her daughter has honored her in this way because of her accomplishment of raising six children and having all of them receive a college education. Blanche and husband William stressed the importance of a higher education and supported their children through all of their endeavors. Five of their six children are ISU graduates. They are Jerry William (BS 1978 MS 1983) Donald Steven (BS 1981) William George (BS 1986 Patricia Renee (BS 1986) and James Edward Chizek (BS 1993)
