I'm "honoring" myself to show appreciation for my mother and father, Anna H. and Forrest L. Fuhrmeister. Also to show appreciation for my freshman chemistry professor, Dr. Nellie Naylor who was a wonderful teacher.
Caroline received a B.S. in Zoology in 1946, worked at National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and on September 1, 1948, married Robert W. Touchberry, Ph.D. (Genetics, Dec. 1948) in Animal Science from Iowa State College. We lived in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Davis, California. In 1992 we returned to the Linn County Iowa farm where Caroline grew up.
We appreciate the good qualities of our daughter, Pamela Touchberry, and of each of our three sons, Robert W., Forrest L., and Alan B. Touchberry and our son's families.
Many ISC-ISU students and alums have developed worthwhile lives by applying science and engineering principles. Even though I'm average rather than heroine-like I'm happy for the chance to associate with good conscientious people - heroines really!
