Five young women founded P.E.O. on January 21 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant Iowa. Chapter MI was organized December 5 1970 in Ames Iowa. The international sisterhood is a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing increased opportunities for education to women.
