Cheryl Luellen Miller

Cheryl Joyce Luellen was born on February 12, 1919, in Minburn, Iowa, the daughter of Clement Dodd and Hazel Nourse Luellen. She graduated from Minburn High School in 1936 and from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri in 1941. For three years, 1942-45, she was a Home Economics teacher in Churdan, Iowa. Following that, she worked in the Dietetic Department of Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for one year. She married Virgil A. Miller on January 21, 1948, and they made their home south of Ogden in Boone County.

They raised four children, all attending the Ogden schools... and of whom she is very proud. Sharon Miller Rodine is a graduate of Iowa State University. She currently lives in Norman, Oklahoma, with her husband Richard and two sons, Brent and Michael. David Miller is a graduate of the University of Iowa and resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Nancy, and son, Matthew. Dean Miller is a graduate of Iowa State University and lives in Des Moines. Kathryn (Kate) Miller is a graduate of the University of Iowa and resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Cheryl is a fifty-eight year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the United Methodist Church and has held offices for local and district United Methodist Women. She enjoys music -- chorus and orchestra in high school, chorus in college, piano and organ. She also enjoys reading and needlework. Virgil and Cheryl moved to the Green Hills Retirement Community in Ames in November 1986.
