Chris Elaine Davis was born December 9, 1952 in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland to Harry and Phyllis Gardner Davis. Due to her father's military duty she spent her youth in various states. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at St. Francis de Sales High School in Powhatan, Virginia in 1970.

She came to Iowa State and met David Gleason. They married in 1973 and settled in Greenfield a small town in southwest Iowa. She has two children -- Amanda born in 1975 and Matthew born in 1980. Chris now works part-time as a clerk in the Adair County Assessor's office and full-time as a volunteer. She currently serves on the Greenfield Community School Board the Adair County Extension Council and the Adair County Youth Action Committee. She is also a 4-H club leader a member of the Greenfield Mothers' Club and a member of the Community Club Task Force for the Iowa State 4-H Office. She is a strong supporter of the Youth and 4-H program and she was selected as a delegate to the 1994 National 4-H Conference in Washington D.C. Between "official acts" she always finds time to support her children and husband in their various activities.
