Ms. Thompson-Wells worked her way through Iowa State on her father's farm and using grants and loans. In order to complete her education at a minimal cost, she completed her course work in three years. Upon graduation from ISU, she joined Sundstrand Corporation Hydro-Transmission Division in Ames Iowa. Ms. Thompson-Wells completed her M.B.A. while working at Hydro-Transmission. She has had a steady stream of promotions in her 23 years to date, and is currently Manager of Finance, Sundstrand Aerospace Mechanical Systems, Rockford, IL. She is one of the highest ranking female managers in this Fortune 500 manufacturing company.
In November 1990 she married Douglas D. Wells, and has three step children. She is very active as a volunteer with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, serving on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Booster Club. Additionally, she gives her time to many other community activities.
I, her husband, and her three step children, are honoring her because of her devotion to us and the difference she has made in our lives. She has joined in our activities and offered both love and discipline as necessary. We truly have someone to share our lives with; a difficult transition for a woman who became a "mother" for the first time at 40. We are truly grateful she is here to share our lives.
