Diane K. Jones has had a wonderful influence on the lives of her family, students and friends. Her contributions to her church community, Iowa State University and other organizations and institutions are evidence of the love and concern she holds for others.

Diane is many things to many people -- wife, mother, teacher, friend and volunteer. She is a tireless worker who provides a great deal of love and affection for her family as well as her elementary school students. Diane has been involved in her church for many years, including teaching Sunday school classes.

In her elementary school classroom, Diane encourages her students to work hard and challenge themselves. She's a demanding teacher but she is dedicated to making learning a fun and enjoyable experience for all.

At home, Diane also expects her family to work hard to reach their potential. She wants her family to enjoy success and she's always there to make that possible by helping someone study for a test, packing a lunch or rebounding missed jump shots in the driveway. She has made the Jones home a warm, loving environment that celebrates togetherness.

Diane was born in Grinnell, Iowa, on June 24, 1957, to Harold and Dorothy Stone. She spent most of her childhood in Marshalltown, Iowa, and graduated in 1975 with honors from Marshalltown High School. Diane attended Marshalltown Community College before transferring to Iowa State, from which she graduated with honors in 1979 with a degree in elementary education. She earned a master's degree in special education from Wayne State College (Wayne Nebraska) in 1987.

She married Steve Jones on March 18, 1978, while both were students at Iowa State. She has three children: Dan, born in 1982 in Denison, Iowa; Mike, born in 1984 in Wayne, Nebraska; and Ben, born in 1991 in Ames, Iowa. Another son, Jeffrey, was stillborn in 1980 in Denison.

Diane has improved the lives of all of those around her.

From her loving husband Steve and sons Daniel, Michael and Benjamin.
