For her contributions to her family, her community, and her world, Dorothy Ellen Wright Boysen belongs in the plaza of heroines.

Her contributions have been many. She has done worldwide travel to help her children and grandchildren understand their heritage; statewide travel to evaluate and assist children's preschool programs as a CDA Representative; local contributions not only as Girl Scout leader; Sunday School teacher; 4-H leader etc.; but as an instructor of many young women at Iowa Weslyan College and Burlington High School, or many years with her training in home economics coming from her bachelor's degree earned at Iowa State University in 1948 and her masters earned at the University of Iowa in 1964, I was the privileged recipient of this wonderful training as I am her daughter. It is for this reason that I can easily, happily, and proudly place her name as a "heroine" here at Iowa State University. She has always been and will always be a heroine to me.
