The members of the Gamma Alumnae Chapter of the Kappa Phi Club wish to honor Dorothy Hedrick for her many years of dedication to Kappa Phi a national organization for university Christian women who wish to unite in friendship. Dorothy was a long-time sponsor of Gamma Chapter at Iowa State University. She also served as National Sponsor for the Kappa Phi Club for ten years. She has given loyal support and much time to these women on the Iowa State University campus. Dorothy has been very active in the Collegiate United Methodist Church and Wesley Foundation at Ames Iowa. She was employed for many years as a parish visitor and counselor to Methodist married students living in university housing units. She also served as president of Collegiate United Methodist Women. Dorothy was also active in Church Women United and served as president of the Ames group. Dorothy has been active in many community activities; she was a member of Altrusa Ames Woman's Club and American Association of Retired Persons having served as an officer in all of these.

Dorothy and Havard Hedrick have four children and during their growing up years Dorothy was active in the Parent-Teachers Association. She served as president of the Iowa Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was also a Campfire counselor and den mother for Cub Scouts. Dorothy was once named Iowa Mother of the Year. Dorothy has touched the lives of so many people. One symbol of the Kappa Phi Club is the pink rose. Just as the rose gives of itself so Dorothy has shared her love and service with others when ever she had the opportunity--she's our Kappa Phi Rose.
