She was my grandmother. She encouraged me to attend college because "you never know how your life will turn out and you need to be prepared to take care of yourself." She was a strong, independent woman who had a number of personal tragedies (including losing both daughters and a grandson at very early ages), but continued to be positive and persevering. She was bright, an avid reader, and the most wonderful woman I've ever known. Our daughter has Grandma's maiden name - Miller- as her middle name.
