Eleaner Joy Larson was born February 14, 1923. She attended the primary school Pleasant Hill School in Harrison County, Iowa, she graduated from Silver Lake High School in Palo Alto county, Iowa as valedictorian in 1940, and she graduated from Iowa State College in 1944 with a major in zoology. Later, she received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin. Eleaner married Edward James Blakely in 1946 and has one son, Jeffrey. Eleaner is a lifetime believer in women's rights and is supportive of the concept manifest in the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women in Politics. 4/17/96
