Elizabeth (Lizz) Bowman is honored for her strong commitment to excellence in education and her dedicated service to the educational community of Ames. She holds two degrees from Iowa State University, a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.S. in Guidance and Counseling. After beginning her teaching career in the Woodward-Granger School System, Lizz joined the teaching staff at Abbie Sawyer Elementary School in Ames as third grade classroom teacher.

She is a long time member of the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the national sorority for professional educators. She has served on advisory committees and curriculum teams to improve and advance the quality of education in Ames and at Iowa State University. She has been quoted in the NEA Today national magazine for her involvement in new curriculum development, and honored in Who's Who in American Education.

Known for her enthusiasm, high idealism, progressive attitude, and great sense of humor, Lizz is respected and admired by both her students and peers. In many different ways she enriches the lives of those who know her.
