We wish to honor Ethel Beebe Hazen who was a good mother, wife and grandmother. She graduated from University of Iowa at Iowa City in 1907. She did one year of graduate work in an age when that was less common than today. She taught English in high schools at Austin, Minnesota and Dickinson, North Dakota for seven years.

She married Hervey E. Hazen (ISU '09) in 1915. They farmed at Demark, Iowa. He was a Master Farmer and later was state comittee chairman for the Agriculture Adjustment Act. They had four children.
Virginia - Grinnell College graduate who taught music in Iowa and Colorado.
Miriam (ISU '41) Home Economics teacher. Married Keith E. Dickson (ISU 43)
Ruth (ISU) - Married Dayton W. Countryman (ISU '40)
James (ISU - '47) Married Eileen Parkison (ISU) James was a United Church of Christ minister in Iowa, New Mexico, Hawaii and California.

Ethel was active in the United Church of Christ churches in Denmark and Des Moines and in school affairs. She raised her family of four children while living on the family farm and was always active with gardening, canning and providing a home before labor-saving appliances became common. She was a cheerful, gentle, cultured homemaker. She died in 1973.
