Frances Marcelyn Doolittle Gordon, 1308 Locust St., Webster City, Iowa was born June 17, 1923 at Blairsburg, Iowa to Fred and Clara (Zeihan) Doolittle. She graduated from Blairsburg High School in 1940, from Webster City junior College in 1942 and from Iowa State College in 1945, with a B.S. Degree in home Economics Education. She taught rural school in Hamilton Co., Flidden High School, Glidden, Iowa, and Blairsburg High School, Blairsburg, Iowa. She did substitute teaching for 10 years in the Webster City Schools.

Marcelyn married Howard Wesley Cordon of Webster City on May 31, 1946, shortly after his discharge from the U.S. Navey after WWII. They farmed near Webster City for 46 years, producing corn, beans, and pork. They moved to Webster City in August, 1992.

Howard and Marcelyn have five grandchilren: Angela, Jason, Nathan, Jarod and Christopher Gordon.

Howard and Marcelyn are active in the First Baptist Church of Webster City. Marcelyn is a charter member and past president of the American Association of University Women, Webster City branch, and is an Iowa State University Alumni Award winner. She is involved in genealogy. Both enjoy reading, farming and children and grandchildren.

They enjoy travel, having accompanied a farm group to central Europe in 1978, and to England and Scotland in 1983. their winter breaks have taken them to California, Texas, Florida and Arizona. Summers to the East Coast, and Washington D.C., and through the Canadian Rockies and the Pacific Northwest. Also to Hawaii, four of the islands.
