Flo Buchwald was born on Governor's Island, New York. As the youngest child of a career Army officer she lived in many states and countries while she was growing up. She attended Iowa State College where she met David Dietz in Freshman English class.

They dated through college and were married August 17 1957. Their first home together was in Emmons Minnesota. After the birth of their first two daughters they moved to Long Island, New York. Another daughter and a son were born there. While raising her children and working, Flo Dietz donated her time and talents on behalf of numerous community organizations and for causes in which she believed.

She has always been actively involved in scouting. She has taught children to swim and to enjoy numerous outdoor activities. She continues to take time for the children in her community now that she has retired and moved with David to Hot Springs Village Arkansas. Flo's spirit of community involvement is one of the many values she has passed along to her children who have purchased this brick in her honor.
