Born in 1917, she overcame great obstacles of poverty during the Depression. She graduated from the University of Illinois and married James D. Willson. She raised a family and supported her husband's career in the upper echelons of business in various cities, culminating in Los Angeles. All three of her children succeeded in a variety of professions: James D. Willson, Jr., in law enforcement; Stephen J. Willson as a professor of mathematics at Iowa State University; and Wendy Willson Legge as an attorney in Minnesota. After the children left home, she devoted her energies to art and art history at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has been active for many years in the Docent Council, giving public tours and serving administratively. Her other hobby is duplicate bridge, in which she is a life Master and an accredited director. 7/1/96
