Helen Peterson Davidson, a native of Marinette, Wisconsin, came to Iowa State College in 1941, receiving her B.S. degree in home economics education in 1950 from I.S.U., the delay due to marriage and living away from Ames. She and her family returned to Ames in 1948 to live, thus providing her the opportunity to complete the course work necessary for her degree.

Helen is the mother of three children- Jean Brayton, Richard J., William S. Davidson; all college graduates and well established in successful careers. She has five grandchildren- Heidi Brayton, Matthew, Dirk, Martha and Julene Davidson. Helen has many interests including art, home decoration, gourmet foods and clothing fashions, and has served in many volunteer roles for her church, the schools, the city and her community.

She has always maintained a strong interest in the welfare of others, providing comfort and caring where needed. While homemaking and family rearing were her primary goals for most of her life, she did spend some ten years working away from home in the I.S.U. Graduate Dean's Office, helping with the computerization of the graduate student records and processing graduate student admissions.
