Henriette Muller Madsen was born in Butler County, Iowa, but has lived in Cedar Falls, in Blackhawk County for most of her life. She is best known for her 40 year teaching career at Cedar Falls High School, her efforts on behalf of teachers as an active member of the National Education Association and her many volunteer activities.

In both her personal and professional lives, she has consistently encouraged, assisted, mentored, and parented many young people. "Henree" has also served as a role model to many women who have followed her example as an independent, competent woman, compassionate, professional educator, and valued community member.
