Iris Young Rasmussen is a mother of five, a grandmother to thirteen, a great-grandmother to six (and counting), a sister to three and a friend to many. She was married to my father for more than 60 years until his death. But, most importantly, she is my mother.
I have learned a lot from her - the value of good education and hard work, the importance of honesty and personal integrity, and the importance of a strong and solid family. All of this she imparted with an understated calm, a wisdom that permitted me and my siblings to learn these things from the example of her life, not from lectures and preaching. For all she has given, I am grateful.
