I'm Ivadell May Walton. I was born November 15, 1923, near Fenton, Iowa. I'm the daughter of Viola A. Gremmels and George L. Bolte. I attended school in Fenton, Iowa, graduating in 1941. I worked at Altstadt and Langlas Baking Company in Waterloo. I married Charles Earl Walton on November 24, 1946, in "the Little Brown Church" in Nashua, Iowa. I lived in Ankeny, Esterville, Algona, and Des Moines. My husband started working in the electrical department at Iowa State University in December 1957. We moved to Napier (near Ames) in 1958. Charles Earl Walton passed away March 29, 1970.

I worked at Agripro Seeds in Napier for 15 1/2 years. After several promotions, I retired as a research assistant in 1989. I have 3 sons and a daughter: Dennis Charles, Diane Marlene, Duane Allen and Devon Ray Walton.

Charles Earl Walton worked at ISU from 1957 until his death in 1970. Duane now works there. Dennis and Devon graduated from Iowa State.

I continue to live in the Ames area and am involved in the Ames Women’s Club, Widowed Men and Women's Club and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Thanks to my son, Duane Allen Walton, for his thoughtfulness to purchase a brick in my name for the Carrie Chapman Catt Foundation. I'm proud to be a part of this great honor.
