J. Elaine Hieber, who joined the ISU athletics family in 1979, groomed countless women into highly successful administrators throughout her career. She has helped introduce former student-athletes to a career path that keeps them involved in athletics after their competition days are completed. As the women who have been mentored by Hieber can attest, her professionalism, poise and dedication to student-athletes, coaches and staff continues to influence them long after their days at Iowa State have passed. Although slight in stature, she will forever stand tall as a pillar of excellence and commitment in the field of athletic administration. We should all aspire to leave such an incredible legacy as a pioneer for women in sport. Thank you, Elaine! Your friends in the ISU athletic department.
