Janie M. Burns grew up in Ontario, Oregon on her familys' farm. After years away from the farm, Janie decided what she really wanted to do was to return to a farming way-of-life.
To Janie, farming is far more than a job. It is an opportunity to understand and practice her beliefs in sustainable agriculture. On her 10-acre farm near Boise, Idaho, she utilizes low impact organic practices to produce food for local markets.
Janie is the founder of the Fresh Market Growers of Treasure Valley, a non-profit organization formed to provide a forum for market growers to educate the public on the benefits of fresh local produce and to promote marketing opportunities. As a fellow grower, friend, and partner, I would like to honor Janie and to thank her for keeping life interesting challenging and rewarding.
