Jean (Molsberry) Bergstrom, the eldest daughter of Dale and Hazel Molsberry, was bom March 12, 1935, in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA in 1953. The following year she married Wayne Bergstrom, also of Des Moines. In 1957 their first son, Stephen Wayne, was born, followed by Craig Alan in 1959 and Robert David in 1963.

In 1966 Jean started working for Farmers Home Administration (FHA) in Clarion, Iowa. She worked full-time while the boys were growing up, but never missed a game or special event and always made sure they were prepared for school, Cub Scouts, sports, or whatever other activities in which they were involved. One principle she always taught her boys was to never quit something they had started. This and other family values taught by Wayne and Jean prepared all three boys very well for college and life. Steve graduated in 1979 from Iowa State, followed by Craig, a 1982 ISU grad, and Bob, a 1985 University of Iowa graduate.

Because Jean was married soon after high school and money was tight, she never had the opportunity to go to college. But in 1981, after enrolling her youngest son at the University of Iowa, Jean decided to fulfill a lifelong dream and enrolled at Iowa State. It took eight long, tough years working full time at FHA until Jean graduated in 1989 with a degree in agricultural business. Her three sons were never prouder of their mom.

For making a difference in our lives, we would like to honor our mom in the Plaza of Heroines at Iowa State University. Congratulations, and Happy 60th birthday.

Love,
Steve, Craig, Bob
