Joanne Ose Lantz was born on a farm near McCallsburg, Iowa in 1933 and grew up there, graduating from high school in 1951 as class valedictorian. She attended Iowa State from 1951 until her graduation in the summer of 1954. She was married to David C. Lantz (class of '52) in 1954.

Joanne taught high school economics in the Milwaukee, WI public school system from 1954 until 1961. From 1961-1965 she organized the home economics department at the New Berlin, WI high school. She presided over the department through its accreditation.

After our son Robert David was born in 1966, Joanne devoted her time to her family and volunteer work.

From 1977 to 1988, she worked as a realtor in Lake County, IL. In 1987, she chaired the legislative committee of the Lake County Board of Realtors, as a represenative to Washington D.C. and in 1987 she was honored as real estate broker-associate of the year for Lake County.

From 1987-1988, Joanne accepted a position with a relocation company in Chicago, arranging for the purchasing of homes of transferred area employees, a position terminated by the elimination of the Chicago-based operation.

From 1991 to present (1995), she has taught home economics to 7th and 8th grade kids at Fremont Middle School in Mundelein, IL.

For Joanne's success and dedication to lifelong service in teaching and real estate and for being a super wife and mother, I recommend Joanne to be included in the Plaza of Heroines at Iowa State University.
